چکیده

It is widely accepted that traditional modular structures suffer from the dominant decomposition problem. Therefore, to improve current modularity views, it is important to investigate the impact of design decisions concerning modularity in other dimensions, as the evolutionary view. In this paper, we propose the ModularityCheck tool to assess package modularity using co-change clusters, which are sets of classes that usually changed together in the past. Our tool extracts information from version control platforms and issue reports, retrieves co-change clusters, generates metrics related to co-change clusters, and provides visualizations for assessing modularity. We also provide a case study to evaluate the tool. http://youtu.be/7eBYa2dfIS8

Co-change Clusters: Extraction and Application on Assessing Software Modularity

The traditional modular structure defined by the package hierarchy suffers from the dominant decomposition problem and it is widely accepted that alternative forms of modularization are necessary to increase developer’s productivity. In this paper, we propose an alternative form to understand and assess package modularity based on co-change clusters, which are highly inter-related classes consi...

Recursive Indirect-Paths Modularity (RIP-M) for Detecting Community Structure in RNA-Seq Co-expression Networks

Clusters of genes in co-expression networks are commonly used as functional units for gene set enrichment detection and increasingly as features (attribute construction) for statistical inference and sample classification. One of the practical challenges of clustering for these purposes is to identify an optimal partition of the network where the individual clusters are neither too large, prohi...

Improving Software Modularity through Crosscutting Concern Extraction

Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) is a programming paradigm for improving the modularity of software systems by localizing crosscutting concerns in the system into aspects. Aspect-oriented refactorings extend AOP to legacy systems, by identifying and encapsulating existing crosscutting concerns through aspect-mining (discovery of crosscutting concerns) and aspect refactoring (semantic-preservin...

Geometric and Electronic Structures of Vanadium Sub-nano Clusters, Vn (n = 2-5), and their Adsorption Complexes with CO and O2 Ligands: A DFT-NBO Study

In this study, electronic structures of ground state of pure vanadium sub-nano clusters, Vn (n=2-5), and their interactions with small ligands for example CO and triplet O2 molecules are investigated by using density functional theory (DFT) calibration at the mPWPW91/QZVP level of theory. The favorable orientations of these ligands in interaction with pure vanadium sub-nano clusters were determ...

Mining Overlapping Communities in Real-world Networks Based on Extended Modularity Gain

Detecting communities plays a vital role in studying group level patterns of a social network and it can be helpful in developing several recommendation systems such as movie recommendation, book recommendation, friend recommendation and so on. Most of the community detection algorithms can detect disjoint communities only, but in the real time scenario, a node can be a member of more than one ...
